naveen_g_100Naveen G, aka Samsara, originally hails from New York, where he was exposed to the early 90's rave scene at a young age while still in high school. Bewildered by the intensity and energy of the scene and eager to hear more, he set out to earn his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in the heartland of house that is Chicago.

It was here that his path crossed with that of the Streetbeat crew that ran one of the earliest electronic music formats around on WNUR 89.3FM. Here he was exposed to a wide variety of djs and producers whose styles and influences ran the full spectrum from minimal techno to intelligent drum n bass. He began spinning in 1998 as his interest in the music needed to be taken to the next level.

As a dj, his style can vary from deep minimal tech-house, to chugging tribal to spaced out breaks. In his djing, he sees the greatest challenge in being able to bridge seemingly different genres, blurring the lines between them and to make the listener seek out styles that they may never have thought of listening to.

This open-minded approach to all forms of music led to his interest in trying his own hand at producing, which came about initially alongside Pat Foosheen on a remix for "Automaton", released on Zone. He went on to complete two originals, "Afterthought" and "Looking Glass" which caught the attention of Ali Shirazinia and were quickly signed to Yoshitoshi. Following on from the strong positive feedback from these tracks, he has gone on to branch out in his productions, delving into melodic tech-house and deep progressive breaks. With more releases forthcoming in 2002, he hopes to broaden his horizons even further, and bring his eclectic style to many new ears.
