I gift a very special thing to progressive and deep house fans. The Argentin producer, Julian Farina Balbi alias Frangellico’s music is usually played by such names like Martin Garcia, Dj Tarkan or Deep Mariano. Because in our country he isn’t well-known, we woluld like to introduce his career until now with an interview.

First i would like to ask you to tell us a few word about you! When did the electronic music’s world grip you and what led you to produce music?

when i was 15 i used to listen bands like PRODIGY, BEASTY BOYS, CHEMICAL BROTHERS so i always had an electronic influence on my music taste. But was on 1999

when progressive – house really hooked me up listening to Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha and

John Digweed playing an amazing progressive on these days. And because of the love for that sound is that it started trying to do my own tracks, always leading to dark and deep sounds.

In the field of composition we already know your name, sith i can count many Dj-s who play your tracks. Do you prefer progressive and deep house from the beginning or have you tried other styles?

Even i like lot of different styles of music, i´ve been always sticked to DEEP PROGRESSIVE. But i think in the future, when i get old, i will go into ambient, downtempo and soundtracks for movies. Love sountracks. :)

What inspire you at composition? Maybe do you hold some newness in your music?

When i started doing these i promised  myself that i will  never do empty music, and i

Try to keep my promisse, i always try to create atmospheres and make the listeners feel

Something, an emotion, can be sadness, joy anything, but i hate whe music is just beats

Without any feeling

Let’s stay at progressive style, namely i wonder if you can see growth in this style,frangellico_hat and what do you think what kind of heading?

I think these days almost every dj turned  into MINIMAL and ELECTRO. Peronally i don´t like these styles at all, so i try to keep my live sets as dark and deep as possible.

And i think progressive style can make people dance even if is not on 130 bpm, i think

Music is about feelings and emotions, and deep progressive has all that.

This style bows back in  your mixes. What is the strength of you choose the tracks in your mixes? Are there periodic tracks what you gladly spin anywhere, or you preferably explore new ones?

It depends on the night, and the crowd, but i always stick to my style, i don´t change for the people, i play what i like, not what i think the people is gonna like it. I try to play always new stuff, from myself or from other producers, but in my sets there´s always room for tracks from 1 or 2 years ago. I think music has no age.

Has anyone searched you about a radioshow yet? Maybe is there something evolve?

Yes, i did some radio shows, but actually is not what i like most. That´s why you may not see a lot of sets from me around there. I love playing live and producing, that´s my biggest love.

frangellico_eiffelTime and time again greater gather ground this style at Argentin. What dou you think what’s the reason of that the people love that style so much there?

Even it has been changing in the last 2 years, there´s still lot of deep progressive lovers around here. I think it may be because we had a strong influence for djs that played that sound a lot 3 or 4 years ago.

Moderately confute me if i am wrong, but i feel a specific argentin style inside this genre (progressive). No ends of how many works get outs of Argentina. Do you work together? Do you hold the relationship or do you see this thing as competition?

Definetelly not as a competition. I know a lot of producers from argentina, and we generally get along very well. I don´t know the rest but i do music because i like it. I don´t do it for living, for the money or nothing like that, i do it for me. Then if somebody else like it, much better, but i do it mainly for my own pleasure

Tell me a few name who you worked with. What kind of experience did you get?

I didn´t make any co-produced track yet, but one with my friend FERNANDO G, we made a track called PIEDRAS wich was released by ACUTE, and had very good support worlwide. Also im working in some projects with some friends from the progressive scene, you will have news soon. :)

Who are your favourites? I mean the producers and djs too.

Well, these days it´s hard to say, because a lot of producers and djs who i used to love changed totally their styles, but my favourite dj these days are MARTIN GARCIA and MOSHIC, and producers too with Sarp Yilmaz, Marcelo Vasami, Kintar and others

Who are the hungarian producers who you know and play their music?

I don´t know a lot from the hungarian scene, i know Yvel and Tristan and Quasar. Huge quality stuff.

But i always try to get in touch with young and new producers, i think there a lot of talentous people and they all deserve a chance, so i always try to help as far as i can

What do you do as a private person?

Im a lawier, i got my degree 2 years ag. :)

If you are be sick of the hole business than what do you do? Maybe are there other music styles beside the electronic what you listen to certainly?

I would love to do soundtracks for movies

My last quesiton is that what you want to message to the hungarian public?

Well, i get lot of messages on www.myspace.com/frangellico from hungarian progressive lovers, so i hope to play there someday and meet you guys. Also stay pure and real, stick to the real escense of music wich is love and passion, is nothing about fashion,  the fashion changes every year, but the real feeling is always the same.

LOVE AND PEACE!!
