We continue on this site the introduction of Argentinean DJs and producers alongside with the many already introduced before, as the progressive style already has its own Argentinean line. The latest selected is Pablo Roma. He has been producing since 2004 with noticeable success. Just to mention a couple of big names, who are playing his music; Hernán Cattáneo, Martin Garcia, dPen,  Denver & Mints or DJ Tarkan.

Not many people know you in Hungary, however you have a very strong musical relation with the country (Feralcode Records). First, I would like to ask you to tell us a few words about yourself! What’s that we must know about you?

I am just an ordinary man who loves music....

You have many musical experiences (I figure from your early rock period), how were you enslaved by electronic music?

The clubs, the nights, everything in its environment took me to electronic music. In the beginning listening to DJ sets I remember being amazed by his work, but then I got interested in the tracks they played, not so much in their work, so I started to create my own tunes...

What was the first kick, when you made a resolution that you would produce music? What inspires you in composition?

It is not like: ”Ok, I am going to make music now”. It just came to me. It happens, I am watching TV and suddenly I run to the computer and start to do something. Everything inspires me and once I am in front of the screen I don’t care about anything else..........

Tell us which musical work you are most proud of?pablo_roma

I feel like I did a good job when DJs tell me how well my tracks did on the dance floor or in radio shows and things like that. For example, a couple of weeks ago, Deep Mariano played a track of mine on his guest mix on Digweed´s Kiss radio show... That is something I am proud of.

Your career has got Hungarian reference. Would you tell us about that a bit? Who found who? How did you get in contact?

I found Ferenc. I had a couple of tunes and I was looking for a label. When I found Feralcode Records, I saw how many great artists he has, so I got in contact with him. I sent him a track, called Broken Cells, and he liked it...So that is how the relationship started...

I would like to add that Ferenc is a great person. Always caring about his artists and very professional...I guess others should learn from him!!!!

It will be a bit of a personal question, but it interests many people on my site. Is it a companionship or it remains mainly a work relationship?

I think it is both. As I said it before; good people like him are hard to find, so I am glad to consider him as a friend too...

Do you draft together some general production?

No, no. He is the one who manages everything. He is the boss...

Tell us a few words about the Reflections! It’s a progressive compilation, where you stand for your own with the ’Sad Flowers’ track. Did you make that for the album or just choose it from your finished works?

I remember I sent him the track without knowing about the Reflections thing...At that time he was preparing it, and he told me he would like to include it on the compilation.

Ok, back to the present. What do you do now? Can we expected a new release in the near future? Do you work together with anybody?

Nowadays I am trying to experiment with new sounds. I try not to stay always in the same sound. I don’t want to get bored. I like minimal a lot, and I am trying to mix some progressive with minimal sounds to see what happens...

About working together with anybody... not at the moment.. I worked with Marcelo Vasami once. We made a track called ”Pushing Me Away”. It was released on Toes In The Sand Records, and it was the best digital seller of all time on that label. So I guess we made a good couple!

Pablo_Roma_1What do you think about the today’s greatest DJs and producers? Are there any ancient favorites whom you follow with attention?

I am a big fan of John Digweed as a DJ. I think he is the best by far. About producers; there are lots of great producers. Dousk´s work is amazing, all of his productions sound awesome. Nowadays I am listening a lot of things from M.A.N.D.Y., Minilogue, Audiofly, Radioslave. I think they know what is the best sound that is coming!

You have a specific style at your producer works. Are there producers who have an effect on you? Do you dip ideas from their works?

I always dip ideas from everything; from chill out to drum & bass. You have to be open to different styles.  Every one of them can influence you in little things, and I think that putting those influences together is a good way to find your own sound.

You are active as a DJ too, but I don’t find any radio stations where you have a show. Has anyone contacted you about a show yet? Maybe is there something in progress?

It is funny that everybody thinks that I am a DJ since I made tracks. Well let me tell you that, I am not, but I am just about to start this year.

Have you had live appearances? If you had, than what kind of experience did you get?

I have just one, a warm up for a friend of mine, and it was great. I had a lot of fun. There were not too many people, but it was a great experience in all and I would love to do it again...and I will.

What kind of plans do you have for the future?

Keep in the way of finding my own sound.

What is your message to the public?

Enjoy the music; it is the soundtrack of our lives!!!!!!
