'Road Story' I could say the story is continued, and it is. Lukas Greenberg's name is better known since the German label, the Plastic City released his album. Though Lukas, alias Nico has been working in the background for years, constantly improving his musical skills and faith in this genre. In the next few minutes you can read about him.

You started DJing in the early 90’s with hip-hop, and after a few years turned to electronic music. Why did you change your style?

I changed music styles because I had the impression that Hip Hop was predicting feelings. I was fascinated by the open minded energy that House and Techno offered.

You’ve been in the leader clubs of Germany like Tresor, 90Grad or KitKat. What memories do you have about these clubs and how did you get closer to them?

Each club was unique and had his own musical concept. They all influenced me a lot and marked me as a dj. My memories are very good, as I spent some really amazing evenings and parties there as well as met some very interesting people. It was a great opportunity for me to play on a regular basis for such remarkable venues.

So you started as a DJ. Why did you feel that you need to produce?Lukas Greenberg

I believe it's a logical step for a dj to start producing, as every dj has it's own ideas how a perfect track should sound like. My goal was always to create my own individual sound.

Years ago you began with an Atary Mega 2. I’m pretty sure you changed it. What technical stuff do you use nowadays, also for record your own music?

Well, I still have my Atari, but more as a nostalgic decoration. Nowadays I upgraded my studio and I'm working with Cubase, various plugins and some vintage synths.

What sounds did typify your first tracks? Did you prefer deeper lines from the beginnings or did you try anything different first?

In the beginning my tracks were all about 20 minutes long and the arrangements were quite poor, but I always had a passion for deeper sounds.

A good song for me needs to capture the audience and release it's enclosed feelings. Even harder sounds shall have some soul.

What’s your opinion about the recent state of electronic music? I mean there’s so many records coming out but only a few of them quality. What do you think?

That's becoming a big problem indeed. I always been a vinyl junkie, but nowadays the vinyls seem to disappear and thus i'm forced to change to digital djing. I'm sad at the same time because with a laptop almost everyone can become a dj. Back in the old days djing was more handiwork, which was more fun.

Maybe it’s my shame but I know only a bit about your label, the Synphon Records. How is this project?

LGreenbergSynphon was established during the time I made my first production steps. I'm not crazy about sending stuff to labels and ask for contracts, so I decided to launch my own label. At the moment Synphon is having a short break, but it will come back for sure.

Your first own album, the Rhode’Stories came out at Plastic City in the end of September. We can see the whole story behind the link comment. Whose idea was this conception?

My A&R told me that Plastic City wants to release an album this year. The timeline was pretty short and I wasn't sure whether I would be able to have it done by time. After I started working the ideas came all step by step and then one day it was done. The inspiration for the title came while I sat in the circle-line in Berlin. I been listening to one of the tracks and suddenly I realized how much this city inspired me and that every track tells his own story.

How did you get in contact with the Plastic City? Was it easier for you because you live in Germany?

It was more a coincidence. I registered with MySpace in 2006 and had "Ain't Nobody" in my player. One day I got a mail from "Timewriter" asking me where he can get the track. I told him that its not released yet and he got me in touch with Plastic City because he believed the track has to be released on the upcoming Plastic City compilation.

What are the feedbacks about the record?

The album is going really well. It became album of the month in various countries and the media reviews are overwhealming. I'm very surprised and very happy too.

And finally, where can we hear you next, and what releases are coming out in the close future?

Currently i'm working on new tracks for Plastic City as well as on some new remixes. I am also preparing on a new project called "Nicolas Vegas" which will show me from a different side, a bit more clubby and a bit more uplifting.
