After Alectric from Rome, here’s another Italian guy, who’s really addicted to deep sounds. I’m sure some of you, who are updated in deep house music, have already heard his name, but most people in Hungary don’t know too much about Kellyyss. That’s why we asked him for an interview.

You got into house music scene quite young. Tell us something about the underground music movement that was in the early 90s in Italy. And what was the deeprythms.com?

The underground music movement (what many people still call and remeber like'UMM' from a name of an Italian label) was what I call  ''italian evolution'' of the house music scenes which came from United States mostly New york city, Chicago in the early 90s in Italy. I'm talking about Italian men,  Djs and producers that did history of the underground music movement in Italy. Unlickly I was too young for living those beautiful experiences that Italy was living itself but, I ve dedicated my life mostly on searching in the past (I've collected lots of old parties tapes and firsts cds).. and I am still searching in the past right now!

my first approch with house music scenes was in the '98 where in Naples like a young ''foolhardy'' dancer, I have been living throught house parties, I enjoyed listening U.S. artist like Tony Humphries, Little Louie Vega, 'Dope' Gonzales, Frankie Knuckles, Tod Terry, Roger Sanchez, Lil' Louise and many others and from england too..and what about the Italian Djs, they did  a lot of efforts. that era was so sweet for house music lovers but as we know, the time goes on and just in the new century I started ''feeling deep''.

the dance music has been evolving and this intersect of styles made of thousand shapes and colours, the word 'deep' mean, a direct connection to the soul of an artist, of djs... I feel that vibration of passion for the music and what they are doing.

The http://www.deeprhythms.com is a result of searching (thnx to the net). it's a website ran by a Finnish guy, Timo Rotonen. He has been delivering quality mixes since 2001 with the only purpose to spread the word of house music and... I felt already like a member of the family. everything started from there and again the searching for the past and deep producers. With it, I subconsciously discovered 'what I feel and what I was searching more', the deep underground house sound.

How did you and your friend, Dj DaSoul promoted and spreaded this genre?kellyyss

The strong passion we shared togheter brought us doing many things for it and, the choice of promoting some parties around my town, trying to increase the voice by a group of friends in public relations and burning music to spread at better the 'deepervoices',  was the idea to recall people who loved dancing house music during the '90 and for who was searching something different  from the same trend clubs which were increasing quickly and right now, in the modern scene of Italy but actually in Naples where I live, the life is too much hard for things of  this genre.

My last chance is just here, talking on the net about those feelings, its an open microphone, we have following and enjoying the music we love, writing a message throught music for God,  friends and people over there that share the same passion.

When did you started producing?

After a big disappoinment, I started producing music in the late 2004 but I wasn't extraneous at all in using sequencers and music software so not everything were gone!

How did you get in contact with André Kroenert and the Night Drive Music recordings?

It was the early 2004 when a big friendship with the young Maroccan guy El Farouki began; we started sharing confidence about deephouse music, passion and what to do for our future like djs we are and what to do for the music we love! our thinking were so compatible and they were made of great feeling. we started producing togheter on some projectes with the idea to release them on a deeper label. In that time, it was the same El Farouki that invited me to spend a week  in Rouen France, where he was living that time. I cant forget how gentle and determinated he was with me and for make that meeting come real, he also booked some gigs with the only porpouse to cover the expenses of the whole travel. He was just great to do the same with some German guys which were the Night Drive Music's manager Andrè Kroenert and his blond friend Rian Dedouse! it was a wonderfull experience, living an entire day togheter. Talking about music and projects,  we found a lot of affinities and also the same great friendship we had each one unconsciously, with the Finnish Timo Rotonen and deeprhythms.com. I looked that such a sign of destiny and the meeting lived again in the next 2005 where we reforced our friendship spending a week around Paris for some gigs. just that month my first release 'pink flower' come out on Night Drive Music and succesively 'moments kept in my soul' on the sublabel 2600 rec.

What about Altered Moods recordings?

Altered Moods recording is a netlabel ran by Malcolm Moore aka Roxnadz from San Francisco. Malcolm is a stronger member of deeprhythms's family, my friend and of course deepersound addicted! after he learnt about my releases on german labels, he reached me out again proposing the idea of the first v.a. album vinyl by Altered Moods, {mosgoogle right}  in the name of our big father in deephouse music, the owner of deep4life rec., Chris Gray..of course his big friend! it has been a great experience for me join to the project where the track 'prisoner of memories' was includeed in the double 12' inch. ''love...lost and found''.

Must be mentioned  efforts of  artists like Brad Peterson,  Jose Lau, Exit Zero (the same Malcolm), Marco Nega and Rezkar.

You made some remixes this year for different producers. One of them is for Alectric, that’s just come out. That track is awesome! How did you get this request?

Thnx so much, it's a pleasure read your words! the answer is quite simple: the collaboration beetwen us just started around Night Drive Music and Mr.Alectric involved me, Andrè kroenert and Kriss Kortz aka Life recorder to work for a remix of his upcoming  release. it has been wnderfull working for the same issue!

Let’s turn back to underground music scene for a while! How is it in Naples?

After long time of dark days, the underground music has been hidden strongly in these last years, other music scenes has been present but something of good is shining at the horizon. the race of circle is going to start again just to its end! I really hope in people and in their feeling to discover the real meaning of the deep underground music.

Do you freqently play in clubs or prefer to spend your time for producing?

No, I dont. right now I really prefer spend my time working and producing to obtain my main objectives but of course gigs are foreseen; playing in clubs are a strong and magic communication in the music bussiness.

kellyyss_2What was your biggest success?

Personally right now I dont recognize my biggest success in producing music but in studing. after the first releases, I studied sound engeniering and I focused mostly on 'treating the sound' that would give music a touch of personality. I think it such a great thing to do so, I has been busy the last 2 years to become a certified audio engineer who love mixing, processing and mastering deephouse sound tunes.

What are your plans for the close future?

The future is coming to be the hardest point of view of the life but it depend mostly on choices and self capacity, mentally and spiritually. I think is important for us have got objectives in our life, looking already at the future in the present is a good helping to make your idea come a real deal.

I'm focusing on music business and this explain as well my plans for the future. there will be more..but right in the just time.
