It’s time to present
you the 9th part of the Private Sounds series, mixed by Stone. Szabi’s life is
an opened book as everyone who’s interested in his work can find news about
him. Also we’ve made a few interviews with him. Because of this I prefered to
ask him about this new mix.
You’ve been
collecting tracks for this mix for almost one and a half year, so we can say
it’s an elaborate work. What led you during compiling the mix?
When you search music, there are always a few ones which you
like more than the others. Like The Disclosure Project – Little Time for me
from this record. I liked it so much that decided to search similar sounds and
make a mix. That’s why it took me nearly one year and a half to prepare it,
because these kind of tracks are really rare. Of course I’m talking about 40
tracks among I chose these 12 from.
Do you have a
favourite among those? If yes, why do you like it so much?
All of them are my favourites, but J.Axel – Across the sea is that I’ll never bore. It’s full of sounds, with many instruments in unbelievable harmony. Good rythm, variety. A real good track….deep.
I had possibility to
listen to the record many times and I have to say you created a
Since I play music, deep house was always the closest to me. There were times when we played trance, tribal, progressive, but I always collected deep house records beside any genres. I like it the most and I think a new, deep house period is knocking on our door. I hope so.
I can feel something
change in styles too. People’s eyes could have been opened for something
different that they were looking for. But let’s stay at your mix. You chose
pretty slow rythms. Those who’ve heard you live know that you play more energic
music on your gigs. So how did this „lounge” style come?
If you play at a party, of course you use more energic tracks, because people go out to have fun and dance or to go crazy. But these tracks are maybe not good to listen at home or in the car. There are lots of music which sound good at big loud, but otherwise quite boring. These ones in my mix are not suitable for a club but good to the ears, very listenable.
Looking at the covers
I found two similar names. B.Craack in the tracklist and Bálint Krakk as the
creator of back cover.
Yes, it’s the same person. I had a conversation with Bálint in spring when I mentioned him I would make a record, but didn’t have all the tracks for it. He said he made one for me that was chosen for the mix. Very good music. Congrats and thank you for it!
How long have you
been friends?
For about 7 years.
I find you a real
music searcher. You chose very unknown, rare tracks for Private Sounds 9. How
can you get this music?
I know and work together with some good producers who constantly give me their new works. These are the best. Beside it I usually buy records on the internet. Mostly from beatport. Several hundreds of new releases come out every day grouped by genre that helps you to find what you want. It’s enough for me, but of course, you can find many more websites.
Does myspace help you
to search new tracks?
Myspace is a really good site. The easiest way to spread your music. I get some messages every week about new releases. Usually I’m asked to write feedbacks as well.
We are in the middle
of summer. Who do you dedicate the PS 9?
For those who like deep house!
