Forteba, Mavan, Lipuria. One man and three different project. Why is it necessary to have these names?
It’s a legal thing… my label asked exclusive rights for the name Forteba. That means my tracks can be released under this name only at them. If I get a request from somewhere else, I need to use other name. I release slower, downtempo music as Lipuria. And maybe I’ll have more names. That’s normal.
How are the feedbacks about Lipuria: Room 215 album?
This album came out as the first part of the Undiscovered Soundscreens series. And people slowly understand its message. It’s a strong, difficult album with extreme emotions. But as a whole it contains the downtempo tracks of the last one and a half year. Those who likes electronic music will like it.
You said in your interview last year: „I don’t think our scene’s gonna be loud by my gigs! There are already many clubs with their DJs in Hungary, so you have to find the way among them to get in. If my records come out, probably my name will be better known at home, and the number of my gigs will increase.” What do you think, are you on the right way?
The people know my name yet. I meet
those guys in every party who come for my music. That’s a good feeling! There
are some fields where I usually play like I Love Deep parties, in other cities
as well, Private Sounds events, radio shows, etc. The more places you are at,
the more contacts you can get. That’s the way it is. It’s great!
You have many remix requests too. If I’m right you’ve just finished BossTone’s Felicidad. Where is this contact from?
Strictly! I know Zoli from a studio in Budapest. We exchanged lots of music and I made some Lipuria tracks on his musical instruments. He moved to Boston since then, but we are still in contact on the net. I chose this track from among his latest demos. A great breakbeat.
Who else do you make remixes for?
At the moment I’m working on Nikos Diamantoupulos’ (Klick Rec.) track called „Keep your eyes open”, and make a remix also for Budai&Vic – Rollerbar beside Bioground and Kormix.
What projects are running beside these?
I edit some shows and videos… :)
I feel some tentative sounds in your music. Something atmospheric style was always typical for Forteba. Is it just a way to find something new or that what you set for yourself?
Both of them. It’s a symbol of a world, but the sounds are made by newer and newer methods. These times you can create very interesting sounds. I like dry rythms but you can bring out more with a little atmosphere.
How did you like the Private Sounds party? Did you enjoy it? You are getting on very well with Zoli (FromP60).
Mavan, Forteba, Tandemroller, Biopanel, etc. How do these names come?
I collect these interesting words. I
have a whole list and choose from it… :)
A little gossip… why did you bob your famous curls? A new image?
Did I..?!
Are you changed due to the successes of last year?
Yes, I’m more successful!... but it’s enough gossip! :)
Success, what is it?! The only thing
that matters is when people come to me after a party to tell they like my
music… and when other musicians send me friend requests on myspace. :)
I got very good feelings when I listened to your new mix first time. I thought I’m on the Gellért hill at a warm night watching the lights of the city… the horizon is curved, the stars are flickering and the fantasy is floating far away…
… give me a puff too…!
What plans do you have for 2008? I hope a new album is on the way!
Yes, I collect the tracks for it. I experiment with new things. And try to make it clearer than the last one was. Now this is the most important.
Do you still wanna be an astronaut?
Of course, Soyuz!
