| Interviews - Hungarian DJs & Producer | |||
And now, a Hungarian team again. László Csák and György Mészáros have been on the road of electronic music since 2004. Their name bacame better-known last year, when one of his tracks called ’Tsunami’ was selected on a compilation album. Before I tell you more I suggest to read on the interview.:)
How long have you known each other?
Maybe for 3-4 years, we don’t know exactly, but through a common friend.
When did you decided to work together?
About 3 years ago. As we mentioned, thanks to our common friend. L.CS: I’m very glad, cuz I found a great person and artist in Gyuri. GY.M: We had the same taste and both of us have been already fond of electronic music. So that showed us our way, that fortunately met that point together.:)
You already have some releases. What was your biggest success?
L.CS: Every release was a success for us. It doesn’t mean that we are successful, just trying. Hopefully we can use well our experiences we got through the years. Real success is if the bigger DJs recognize our works. GY.M: And of course when the crowd like it. Any positive feedbacks give us inspiration.
Your first
momentous work was for Chriss’ Justmusic compilation album. How did
L: Among many Hungarian DJs I liked Krisztián’s works the most, so I usually went to parties where he played. It was definite he’s the first who we sent our music to. He liked it so much that he mixed in his album our ’Tsunami’ track.
After your record has come out at Foundation Records, you got to well-known labels, like Tarkan’s and V-Sag’s No Smoking. And the two bosses also made a remix for your „Sunset Drive”. How did you get this chance?
That was only luck. We were looking for a label to release our EP. No Smoking had just started when we sent our music, and Tarkan replied immediately that he would like to release it.
D-Phrag’s name is very regular on this site, because nearly every artists who we made interview with had a mix in his show on Frisky Radio. How did you meet with him?
On tram 4-6. That’s not true of course.:) He found us after the No Smoking and ivited us to his show. He is a big fan of Hungarian producers.:) In the Balkan area our music is very popular.
Can I ask a few general questions? I accept one-word answers too.:)
GY.M: Fortunately it’s the same in my case. We need big tolerance. More than one year ago we set our life together „officially”.
![]() GY.M: Piano. I used to play it for a long time.
GY.M: 2 hamsters and a guinea pig make me happy at home.
GY.M: My civil job allows me only on weekends to live at night. Weekdays I have to get up after 6 am.
Ok, let’s turn back to more important things. What do you use for producing?
PC and midikeyboard. That’s all.
What is whose responsibility?
L.CS: We don’t have own tasks, but the sound of Faces is usually Gyuri’s merit. GY.M: But also Laci works a lot… creating the base and musical structure and mastering. His DJ experiences are give a great background for producing. It’s very funny but I usually get the best melody ideas when I’m at a food store, mainly at dairy products.:)
It’s a double compilation album. Little bit late due to other projects, but it’s gonna be full with unreleased works of Hungarian and foreign producers. It’s coming out at Soundtribe Records that’s a high-flyer label in the USA.
You had a party related to this album. How was it?
It was successful on the fields of attendance and atmosphere as well. And new Soundtribe events come, so watch the flyers.
Finally we would be grateful if you told us something about your future plans.:)
We would like Faces to be a long-term and successful project going by the actual electronic dance music streams, but keeping the Faces sound with cheerful music.
